In this research project Asics Gel Saga Schoenen Bruin Groen Oranje Nederland , I will explore the issue of the use of lethal force by the police. The police in 2015 shot and killed 986 civilians in the United States. The civilians death under the hands of the police has in the recent years contributed to disruptions and protests in various major cities such as Baltimore, Chicago Asics Gel-Quantum 360 Schoenen Zwart T7E2N-9090 Nederland , and new York. Often the perception if the public towards the use of lethal force by the police is different from the perception of the law enforcement. The perceptions are usually influenced by a wide range of factors such as media perception and the increasing power in the use of social media. Police shooting such as the case of a 12-year-old from Tamir Rice Cleveland makes us questions what reasons could the police officer have to believe that the 12 years old was an imminent and grave threat to the public that he deserved to be shot? In answering such a question we also wonder whether another alternative to the deadly force are in existences and also how the issue of face impact the perception of police officers on matters of public threat. Based on the prevailing standards theses questions have not been relevant over the past years, but they are currently relevant to the increasing cases of police excessive use of force. Without the need to address these questions Asics Gel-Quantum 360 Schoenen Wit Nederland , the American policing will continue to witness excessive challenges especially the race problem. The research will aim at finding out how such cases of the application of lethal force by the police do contribute to the negative perception that public will have towards the police. My research project will show that there is a broad section of the public that had no or lost its trust in the agencies of law enforcement because of their perception of biased use deadly force cases. The research project will show that such a loss of trust threatens the law enforcement institutions legitimacy. Thus there is a need for systematic reforms to regain this public trust. The background of the study is on facts such as the police officers killed 74 unarmed black people in 2015. The study aims to show that positive perception towards the police by members of the public is essential for it enables them to serve the police and the public well when adequate designs are available. On the other hand, reactive approaches such as excessive use of lethal force by the police may not have the intended effect of positive public perception as well as their participation in community policing. Research question How can overuse lethal force affect public perception of the police? Literature review The main source which I have picked to find more about my research topic is the article by Nowacki (2015). The source provides facts about the over use of lethal force by the police. It shows current data that from January to July 2015 the unarmed black men had 70 times more likely to die by the police gunfire than the unarmed white men. Nowacki (2015) show that the black person is approximately four times most likely to die while being arrested or in custody than a white person. I will also use the FBI data analysis which shows that from 2010 to 2012 arrived at the conclusion that the police were likely to kill black men aged 15 to 19 at a rate of twenty-one times higher than white men statistics of people in that age. Another source information is from Bulman Asics Gel Lyte III MT Boot Zwart HL6F4-9090 Nederland , (2011) which indicates that police officers are expected to use deadly force only when there are reasonable believe that the person possesses, imminent and grave danger to others and themselves. Finally Asics Gel Lyte III Schoenen Wit Roze Nederland , the article from Ferdik et al., (2014) shows the public perception on what the police evaluate this reasonableness rule is unobjectionable whereby racial bias does have an impact on what seems reasonable.
