FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State hired former California coach Jeff Tedford on Thursday to take over the struggling Bulldogs program.A news conference will be held Friday to officially introduce Tedford as the replacement for the recently fired Tim DeRuyter. Tedford will take over after the season concludes with interim coach Eric Kiesau keeping his duties for the final two games for the Bulldogs (1-9).Jeff possesses all the qualities we were looking for in a head coach, athletic director Jim Bartko said. First and foremost, integrity, plus a great football mind and the ability to come in and hit the ground running. When you have the opportunity to hire someone who knows this valley and is Bulldog Born, Bulldog Bred, there is not a better choice.Tedford has deep ties to Fresno State. He played quarterback there in the 1980s under Jim Sweeney and coached under Sweeney from 1987-88 and 1992-96. He stayed on the staff for one more year under Pat Hill in 1997 before becoming offensive coordinator at Oregon and then head coach at Cal.Coming to Fresno State is coming home for myself and my family, he said. To have this special opportunity to return to my coaching roots is truly a dream come true. Our mission will be to grow and develop young people to reach their full potential in all areas ... academically, athletically, socially and spiritually ... to compete at high levels in the classroom and on the field while doing so with great character and high integrity. I look forward to reconnecting with all the past players and supporters to help bring the program back to prominence. After taking over a one-win team at Cal following the 2001 season, Tedford quickly built the Bears into a contender. Cal finished the 2004 season ranked ninth in the country as Tedford helped develop quarterback Aaron Rodgers into a first-round pick.Coach Tedford is one of the finest minds that I have ever been around, Rodgers said. I felt that right away when I got to Cal, and I was very fortunate to be able to spend two years working together. ... Coach put me in a great position to play my best ball there and then to move on and have an opportunity in the NFL.Tedford had an 82-57 record in 11 seasons at Cal and was fired after going 3-9 in 2012. He was hired as offensive coordinator by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014 but had health issues in the preseason and eventually left without coaching a game. He spent the 2015 season in the CFL as head coach in British Columbia and has been an offensive consultant at Washington this season for Chris Petersen.DeRuyter was fired last month following a 1-7 start in his fifth season. He won Mountain West titles in each of his first two seasons but struggled after star quarterback Derek Carr left for the NFL.---More AP college football at www.collegefootball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25Carlos Bacca Colombia Jersey . It was the kind of score that might make everyone else wonder which course he was playing. Except that Graeme McDowell saw the whole thing. Crouched behind the 10th green at Sheshan International, McDowell looked over at the powerful American and said, "Ive probably seen 18 of the best drives Ive seen all year in the last two days. Yerry Mina Jersey . Dallas hasnt ruled out the star quarterback for Sunday nights game against Philadelphia, but all signs point to Romos back injury pushing Kyle Orton into the starting role after two years of limited play as the backup. Surely Ortons name isnt the first that comes to mind for fans wanting a change after years of damaging interceptions, fumbles or, most infamously, the field goal flub when Romo dropped the snap on a kick that could have won his first playoff game in 2006. http://www.nationalcolombiafootball.com/james-rodriguez-colombia-jersey/ .S. AUSTIN, Texas -- Nico Rosberg sat slumped in his chair, exhausted and exasperated after another race and world title was taken away by Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton. Then came the hat toss seen around the world. These friends-turned rivals return to Texas and the U.S. Grand Prix in very different places this week. This time, its Rosberg with the big lead and Hamilton running out of time if he hopes to retain his Formula One championship.Rosberg leads Hamilton by 33 points with four races left on the schedule. That means Hamilton has to make a big push starting Sunday on a track where hes won three of the last four years.America has been good hunting ground for me, Hamilton said.A win streak alone wont do it. Hamilton needs a bad race from Rosberg somewhere. If Rosberg finishes second three times and finishes third once, hell still claim his first career championship. A Rosberg victory anywhere along the way would all but clinch it.My frame of mind at the moment is to have fun, Hamilton said. Im determined to win. Theres never a day in my life when I dont want to win. I could come here like Ive got to win every race, but Ive been racing a long time. I know what Im doing so just go do it the best I can and enjoy. Is that concession?Absolutely not, Hamilton said. Theres still 100 points out there. Its possible.Four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel, who won a couple of close title chases, agreed.Hes quick enough, Vettel said. Im sure hell go for it. Its only over when its over.Rosberg may dictate when the end comes. Hes been a different driver since his moment of post-race infamy in 2015.After Hamilton clinched last seasons title in Austin, he playfully tossed Rosberg his podium cap in the drivers cool-down room. Rosberg immediately threw it back at him in a petulant moment captured on live television. The split-second reaction symbolized the meltdown of Rosbergs title efforts and the relationship between two driverss who became friends when they were coming up through the junior circuits.ddddddddddddLast year this race obviously didnt work out so great for me, so Im looking forward to getting back out there and doing my best to get it right this time, Rosberg said.Rosberg emerged from his Austin disaster with steely determination. He won the final three races of 2015 and the first four of 2016. A mid-season slump allowed Hamilton to charge back from a 43-point deficit, but Rosberg has been coolly efficient of late with a run of four wins in the last five races.Rosberg refused to be pulled into thinking about the pressure facing both drivers or whether hes walking a tightrope of emotion with a title so close within reach. His father, Keke Rosberg, won the championship in 1982.I dont know how much pressure Lewis is putting on himself ... Im going to focus on this weekend, Rosberg said.Rosberg also said he wont settle for the safety of second place on Sunday.I will try to push for the win, 100 percent, he said. With the car I have, I can win on any track against Lewis.Hamiltons title hopes took a huge dent two races ago in Malaysia when he was leading late but was forced to retire with an engine problem. Hamilton looked dejected when he got out of the car day and said it felt like something or someone was working against him.A higher power, he later said. It feels right now that the man above or any higher power is intervening a little bit.Like the previous two seasons, Mercedes has dominated the field with 15 wins in 17 races. No other driver has factored into the title chase. If he loses the title, Hamilton said hell try to take it like a man because you cant win them all.Look at all the champions in the past who have who have won championships and lost championships, he said. It is part of the game. ' ' '
