KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessees active scoring leader, Hannah Wilkinson, made her return for the Vols on Thursday night and led the team with three shots on goal in a 1-0 loss to Washington at Regal Soccer Stadium.Wilkinson checked into the game in the 22nd minute and played the remainder of the match for UT in her first game back since the 2014 season finale against Kentucky in the SEC Tournament semifinals.The Volunteers (1-2) outshot the Huskies, 14-9, and had 12 corner kicks compared to just four for UW on the night, but couldnt find the back of the net in their second loss of the season.Washingtons Dominique Bond-Flasza scored the games only goal on a highlight-reel strike from distance to give the Huskies (1-2) their first win of the year. Bond-Flasza corralled a pass from Becca Schoales from about 25 yards out and blasted a shot into the upper left corner of the goal, just past the outstretched arms of UT goalkeeper Jamie Simmons.The Vols nearly tied the game in the 42nd minute but Danielle Marcano and Michele Christy has back-to-back shots inside the box blocked by Husky defenders and UT went into the break down 1-0.It was all Tennessee in the second half as the Big Orange pressured the UW defense early and often. Marcano nearly tied the game again for the Vols in the 70th minute but had her header cleared off the line by a Washington defender. Not even five minutes later, Christy had a free kick opportunity from just outside the box turned away by Huskies keeper Sarah Shimer, who finished with five saves on the night to earn her first shutout of the season.It was Marcano again with another solid opportunity in the 77th minute on a long strike that whistled just wide of the left post. Wilkinson also had a chance late on a semi-breakaway, but was taken down in the box by Shimer on what was ruled a clean tackle.Tennessee had three players post multiple shots on the night, led by Marcano, who finished the game with four.
