CLEVELAND -- Joe Flacco squinted, did a double-take and rubbed his eyes.As he prepared for this Sundays game, the Ravens quarterback looked intently at video of Clevelands young defense and wasnt sure who he was watching. Most of the Browns hes beaten over the years are long gone.I dont recognize a lot of the guys over there, to be honest with you, he said. So it is kind of funny that we are going in there and it seems like a pretty new group.Back from a knee injury that cost him most of last season, Flacco will have his first encounter this week with the baby Browns, who have 17 rookies on their roster and are in the early stages of a massive makeover.Flacco has owned Cleveland during his career, posting a 13-2 record while throwing 19 touchdown passes, his most against any opponent. But those came against a very different team than the fresh-faced squad hell face in his first road game of 2016. At first glance, Flacco is impressed with Clevelands new-look defense. They play hard and they play fast, said Flacco, who passed for 258 yards and a score in last weeks win over Buffalo. You can tell that they are really trying to teach these guys how to run after the ball and have a nonstop motor. They have a lot of good young guys that can get to the passer and do a good job in a lot of those things so it will be interesting.I recognize (cornerback) Joe Haden and there is not much more that you really are used to seeing over there, so its kind of funny.Nobody in Cleveland is amused. The Browns (0-1) are already in scramble mode after losing quarterback Robert Griffin III for eight games -- any maybe more -- with a broken bone in his left shoulder. Josh McCown, who torched the Ravens for 457 yards in a win last season, has taken over Clevelands offense, which sputtered and produced just 10 points in losing the opener.McCown showed last season hes capable of big games and the Browns will likely need one to keep pace with Flacco, who could have a field day against Clevelands raw secondary.Browns coach Hue Jackson is hoping some of his pass rushers get close enough to introduce themselves to Flacco.I hope he gets to know some of the other guys here by Sunday, up close and personal possibly, he said. Here are some other things to keep in mind as the Ravens look for their 15th win in 17 games against Cleveland:HUE KIDDING ME? Little has changed -- so far -- for the Browns under Jackson. The coach understands the frustration Cleveland fans feel for their beloved team, stuck in a cycle of misery for years. Hes pledged change. The fans might not like me for a while, but theyre going to love me here pretty soon, he said. Eventually they will love me, I promise you that. Because I do plan on winning here. I know with every loss theres another dagger that drags you down another few feet deeper. Im a fighter. Were going to get back up and were going to keep swinging. Were going to win a championship here for the Cleveland Browns.WATCH OUT: Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs projects plenty of trickery from Jackson, Baltimores quarterbacks coach in 2008-9.Were expecting Hue to throw the kitchen sink at us, Suggs said. Were preparing for everything. Some wildcat, polecat, everything. Dont be surprised if they come out there with that `Little Giants formation or the Flying V. Theyve got something up their sleeve. Weve just got to be able to prepare for it and react to it.BACKUP BACKUP PLAN: Griffins injury and McCowns return to the lineup leaves the Browns with rookie Cody Kessler as their new backup.A third-round pick, Kessler struggled during the exhibition season when he appeared overwhelmed and overmatched. If McCown got hurt, Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor could be an option. We have a plan in place in case we needed a third quarterback, Jackson said without pinpointing Pryor, who started nine games at QB for Oakland in 2013. I got a pretty good one on the roster. I just stashed him away a little bit. He is doing other things.MULTIPLE TARGETS: Flacco connected with 10 receivers last week. The way coach John Harbaugh sees it, the more threats, the better. Its good to be able to spread the ball around, he said, noting that Steve Smith drew double coverage on Baltimores only TD last week, a 66-yarder to Mike Wallace.QB CAROUSEL: According to Elias, the Browns streak of using at least two quarterbacks in 15 consecutive seasons is the leagues longest since the 1970 merger.--AP NFL websites: http://pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL---AP Sports Writer David Ginsburg in Baltimore contributed to this report. Balenciaga Outlet Online Uk . -- Vincent Lecavalier got everything but the desired result in his return to Tampa Bay. MIAMI -- Don Mattingly was a New York Yankees minor-leaguer when Thurman Munson died in a plane crash on Aug. 2, 1979.Munson was the Yankees 32-year-old star catcher -- a seven-time All-Star, a three-time Gold Glove winner, a two-time World Series champion and a former Rookie of the Year and American League MVP.The Miami Marlins, the team Mattingly now manages, suffered a horrific tragedy of their early own early Sunday morning when 24-year-old pitcher Jose Fernandez -- already a two-time All-Star -- died in a high-speed boat crash.Mattingly said he can see the correlation to what the Yankees lost in Munson and what the Marlins lost in Fernandez. It feels like that, Mattingly said. The way we talk about Jose and his personality, you are not going to forget that. Jose will have a presence in this organization even after were long gone.Fernandezs tragic death seemed to inspire the Marlins (78-78) on Monday in a 7-3 win over the New York Mets. It was the Marlins first game after Fernandezs body was discovered and after the scheduled Sunday game against the Atlanta Braves was cancelled. The Mets (83-74) clearly ran into a team determined to honor Fernandez, but whether that emotion can carry over to Tuesday is another question.New York will start right-hander Noah Syndergaard, whose turn was moved back a couple of days due to step throat.Syndergaard, whose fastball consistently clocks at 100 mph, is 13-9 this year with a 2.63 ERA. He has been fairly consistent alll year, winning six games at home and seven on the road and posting a 2.dddddddddddd56 ERA before the All-Star break and a 2.75 ERA after the Midsummer Classic. However, given his electric stuff, he probably hasnt been as dominant as the Mets would like, especially with the team in a tight playoff race. New York sits in the first NL wild-card position, a half-game above San Francisco (82-74). The St. Louis Cardinals (81-75) are a game behind the Giants.Miami will counter Syndergaard with right-hander Tom Koehler, who is 9-12 with a 4.02 ERA.Koehler will make his ninth attempt this season at getting his 10th win. He is 0-4 in his past eight starts and hasnt won a game since Aug. 9 vs. the Giants.Against the Mets for his career, he is 2-7 with a 4.37 ERA. This year against New York, he is 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA.Mets manager Terry Collins, though, is clearly concerned that his team will once again get caught up in the emotion of what is happening with the Marlins and their loss of Fernandez. It was a tough night (on Monday), but we have to move on, Collins said. I saw some real emotion (before the game). You can understand that from their team, but you saw some of our guys who were touched by the whole thing, too.We are all going to miss (Fernandez) for a long time. He will be in our minds forever. But we have to get back to business now. ' ' '
